7 Benefits of coffee
in the workplace

May 20, 2017 | Evie Foster

Coffee is considered by many as an essential part of the workday and is one of the most unifying products in the world. I am sure it comes as no surprise to any of us that coffee is the second most consumed beverages all over the world after water. There are many benefits to providing coffee in the workplace and here are seven for you to consider.

1. It keeps employees alert

Of course, caffeine is the main component of coffee, which is proven to keep us alert via stimulation of the central nervous system but there are other factors which you may like to consider if you are deciding to provide coffee in your workplace. Caffeine increases the heart rate and fights fatigue and so coffee plays a vital role in providing the energy that aids productivity. When we feel more alert we tend to think more clearly.

2. Coffee breaks improve productivity

As stated above, coffee helps to keep us alert and thinking more clearly and when that happens of course we are able to be more productive - couple that with the fact that research shows that employees who take regular coffee breaks, with colleagues, demonstrated an improvement in their productivity. The 'coffee break' creates an opportunity where colleagues can share both personal and work related experiences and this showed a lift in their productivity and performance.

3. It helps boost employee morale

When employees are asked to do more with less, especially in today's economy, smart business managers look for creative, affordable ways to keep staff motivated. A recent survey on how to improve productivity revealed that small perks like good coffee would have a major impact on boosting employee morale. Three out of five Canadians feel more motivated to do their best work when provided with perks in the office as these small perks make them feel more valued.

Dr. Bob Nelson, the best selling author on maximizing workplace motivation and productivity,  said "It is important for business managers to recognize and reward their staff for their hard work, even if a tight budget only allows for small perks. Fresh, free gourmet coffee is the most desired office perk."

5. Coffee is social - promoting creativity

There are several studies that prove that workers who gather together for 'a cup of coffee' increased their productivity and creativity levels.  Having that facility in a workplace by way of not just a coffee pot or coffee pod machine but providing employees with a coffee system such as one from Insta Barista, not only gives them coffee but Specialty gourmet coffee at the touch of a button. refers to their coffee systems as Baristas as they can provide more than 20 hot beverage selections, from Espressos, Americanos, Lattes, Cappucinos, Mocha, Chai Lattes, Hot chocolates, French Vanilla, Irish Cream and much more!

6. It can help you to live longer

We were told, once upon a time, that coffee was bad for us and that the less we drink the better but there is now a growing body of research that is telling us just the opposite and that coffee is packed with antioxidants and that it is shown to help ward off heart Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and heart disease. I think the key here is everything in moderation!

7. It WILL SAVE YOU MONEY

Having a in the workplace will save you money and space.  The systems are compact and attractive and will not take up a lot of space.  There is no mess for employees to clean up.  Providing a 'Barista' just outside their office door will keep them in the workplace and not out looking for a good cup of coffee as it is right by their side. The cost of traveling to a coffee shop, waiting in line and paying 75% more per cup will end up costing you a lot more than you think.
